Carol O'Connell has created a unique and complex set of characters in her Mallory Novels and I think this is her best yet. In each of the books the author is able to reveal and develope each of the recurring characters a bit more while at the same time writing fascinating stories. Her observations on human relationships, motivation, and even love ring true while adding depth and resonance to the writing. An outstanding book in an outstanding series.
