Visually, they look almost the same, but the high yield TN660 actually contains more toner than the TN630. As a result, they have different page yields; the TN660 high yield toner cartridge has twice the page yield of the TN630 standard yield toner cartridge.
The biggest difference between the TN660 and the DR630 is the appearance. The drum unit looks like an empty shelf because it does not contain toner, so it is empty in the center. Its main function is to support the toner cartridge. The toner cartridge is solid and looks smaller than the drum unit.
The DR-630 drum unit in your Brother MFC-L2740DW printer is a critical component that works in tandem with the toner cartridge to transfer toner to the paper. As the printing process is repeated over and over again, the drum unit wears out over time and replacement is usually recommended after 3 or 4 toner cartridges have been used.
Turn Off the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned off.
Open the Front Cover: Open the front cover to access the toner area.
Replace the Old Cartridge: Remove the old toner cartridge.
Prepare and Install New Cartridge: Take the new TN660 cartridge, remove protective covers, and slide it into place until it clicks.
Close the Front Cover: Securely close the front cover.
Power On the Printer: Turn on the printer, and you're ready to print.
