Anybody who believes teenagers are not capable of making great rock music don't know what rock music is all about. For teenagers, everyday experiences are still new and exciting. Emotions are much stronger than that of an adult and their excitement and enthusiasm cannot be matched by any other age group either. The fact is, no matter how much the majority of people deny it, each day you wake up is a step closer to death. Your body and mind are beginning to fade away into nothingness this minute. Without the high levels of excitement and emotion, rock music is useless. At the time these tracks were recorded the members of Gang Green were sixteen years old. Inside the compilation CD of "This Is Boston, Not L.A./ Unsafe at Any Speed" (which most songs on this album appear) there's a good story about the problems presented by Gang Green's recording session and how they could mix it so it would be listenable. The first two songs on this CD are not on the aforementioned album and also happen to be the two best Gang Green songs, so even if you own that CD you must own this as well.Much like other rule breaking hardcore bands, Gang Green went against the dominate straight edge mentality of the Boston scene and consumed as much drugs and alcohol as possible, which eventually took its toll on the bands later recordings."Preschool" is absolutely essential hardcore. Like many hardcore albums, their first effort is their best. It's purity of essence. Rebellious, reckless, angry, and exciting is what rock music should be like and this is a fine example of that.
